Queen Anne’s Lace: A Mid-Spring Update

We have had our eyes out for it. We have been anticipating it. It arrived almost overnight!

The Queen Anne’s Lace! Right alongside our walking trail where it was so beautiful last summer we found it sprouting up in large numbers. Look at the bright spring-green color!

Now I feel like we have completed our Queen Anne’s Lace cycle for the four seasons. All that is left now is to enjoy watching it grow and grow and grow.

Thanks Anna Botsford Comstock for inspiring us to watch this plant for a complete year. If you want to get started with your own Year-Long Queen Anne’s Lace Study, here are the links for spring and summer.

This might be a good time to look for it growing in your neighborhood too.

  1. I am excited to see your Queen Anne’s lace post…we live near the Orchard House (Louisa May Alcott’s home), and when we visited there at Christmas, they had pressed Queen Anne’s lace hanging like snowflakes in the windows. It was charming, and I am excited to do the same! I’ll keep my eye out for some around here, though I think you are further along in your Spring than we are…Warmly,Corrine

  2. Inspiring post and encouraging entry in your nature journal, as usual! I would love to win one of the giveaways — um, I think the field paint box kit (though I would be happy with either one!)

  3. There is a vacant lot across from our home and we enjoyed seeing Queen Anne’s Lace all summer long. They recently put a for sale sign over there and my daughter was sad and said, “Oh Mom, if they build a house over there, we won’t see our Queen Anne’s Lace anymore.” You’ve encouraged and reminded me to keep an eye out for it so they children can observe its stages of growth!

  4. Thank you for the great blog and for inspiration! I would love either of the giveaways.
