I am by nature a planner, and I know many of you are likewise, so here’s the plan for the next few months here on the Handbook of Nature Study.

My daughter is especially excited about studying horses!
I think the apple study will be fun and informative as we gather different varieties to inspect them! We can add in a trip to an orchard and a baking activity too. I think it would be fun for my little bakers to do some tests to find the best baking apple due to its characteristics. Thank you for all you do at OHC! I always find fresh inspiration through your materials.
We spent live too far from you. We are in Woodland, WA. The PNW is a nature lovers dream! We are looking forward to Queen Ann’s lace. There’s so much of it around here, we might as well learn about it.
I have one that likes horses, but with our recent visit of a hawk, I am sure all the kids will love the birds.
I’m looking forward to seasonal leaves and weather.
I’d say trout and salmon, however my kids would probably say HORSES!
I think my kids would be most interested in observing horses, but I’d have to say Queen Anne’s Lace because I love wildflowers and that is a personal interest of mine.
I am most looking forward to the trout and salmon study because we have a fishladder near us and it will be fun to watch as we learn.

The Geese and Duck sounds very interesting. We did a study each week watching them nest. We noted the temperaments and how they acted. It was really interesting.

We love all things Autumn at our house! So, it’s a toss up between Signs of Autumn and Seasonal Tree- Leaves.

Looking forward to pinecones. Recently went to the Arboretum and was amazed at the variety of conifers.

I am so looking forward to the December one on the Trout and Salmon….my daughter wants to look at the APPLES as we moved from the VA area last year and she is curious about the different apples down south!

We’re new to all of this, so I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to just sit and study and enjoy nature … but since I’ve got a thing for horses and almost never get to be around them, I think that will be exciting! I’ll have to see what I can work out for that one. 🙂
